Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon?
The night sky above Arbor Trace in Richmond, Indiana was lit up with the flame of a hot air balloon sailing softly overhead. The Midwest Balloon Company from Indianapolis brought one of their multicolored balloons on Tuesday, September 24th and gave rides to the residents. The balloon arrived about 4:30 and 50 residents along with family, friends and staff stood in awe at the majestic sight of a balloon over 60 feet tall being inflated in less than half an hour.
It was perfect weather for a balloon ride. The temperature was a pleasant 78 degrees with blue cloudless skies. There was apple cider and hot chocolate with cookies and Rice Krispy treats for snacks. Excitement was building as the first residents were loaded in the specially designed gondola. The balloon was released from the ground and soared to fifty feet in the air. You could hear the excited exclamations all the way to the ground. After a few minutes in the air, the balloon landed and another group headed up.
Dick Wolfe a resident of Arbor Trace said, “I’ve been in all kinds of air craft, from a B-52 in World War II to helicopters to all types of airplane, but I’ve never been in a hot air balloon. Guess I can cross that off my list now.”
